20.7.2007 Pregnant mares

Registana (GER) is pregnant by Oscar (IRE), bay, born 1994 (Sadler's Wells – Snow Day) and has returned from Ireland to the Etzean horse farm in Germany. Sweet Answer (GB) took several trips with foal to Poland to mate with studhorse Enjoy Plan, the sire of Duce (POL), Sun Set (POL), Kolorado (POL) and Tasznik (POL). She is also now pregnant.

10.7.2007 Racing day

Světlá Hora 7.7.07 While the windy conditions and cloudy skies may have discouraged some potential spectators, attendance nevertheless approached three thousand. The cooler weather was ideal for horses and thanks to the rain over the past several weeks the track was in a perfect supple condition. The programme featured seven traditional steeplechase races, two pony races and a parade with our star horses Diktys (CZE) and Kolorado (POL). Masini (POL), who was in the Brno Veterinary Clinic following an operation, was missing from the show. Baggio (POL) Světlá Hora 7.7.07 The top event was the traditional Wrbna Racing Stables Trophy – a cross-country steeplechase over 4 600 m. Albert’s white horse Amant Gris took the lead at the start and set a brisk pace. At the very end of the race he succumbed to a well-timed charge by half-blood Tomis from the Jantar Bruntál stables with Jaroslav Myška aboard. Wrbna’s Baggio (POL) took third carrying the heaviest handicap; Aton finished fourth and Ginsana fifth. Tajnaron (POL) Světlá Hora 7.7.07 The second most important race of the afternoon – the Světlá Hora Trophy – a hurdle race over 3 400 m, had to be rerun at the end of the racing programme. The first attempt was stopped due the fall of a rider, who remained injured on the track. Wrbna’s Tajnaron (POL) with Jan Faltejsk aboard won the repeat race, thus successfully defending his hurdling career. The leader for much of the race, Esrisk, finished second; Liman came in third. Hastaven (FR) Světlá Hora 7.7.07 The first race of the day - the Sven Car Trophy – a cross-country steeplechase over 4 100 m, was won easily by Wrbna’s veteran Hastaven (FR) with Jan Faltejsek aboard. Morávka and Valesa finished second and third respectively. Last year’s champion jockey Josef Bartoš unfortunately suffered a fall and injury in this race. Teviot with Bohuslav Mátel aboard won the Alžběta Hradilová Trophy, a steeplechase for four-year-olds over 3 500 m, finishing ahead of Láva z Rusína and Chanda. Wrbna’s Number One (POL) did not finish in the money in his steeplechase debut. The Agrotec Trophy – a hurdle race for five-year-olds and older over 3 400 m was won by Gernia with Bohuslav Mátel aboard. Night Express and Wrbna’s Nowy Corleone (POL) finished second and third respectively. The E.P.I Trophy – a steeplechase over 3 400 m – was won in typical fashion by another veteran, Everton with Jaroslav Myška aboard, over Minorita and Něžný Barbar. In the hurdle race for three-year-olds – the Landbau Trophy – Mike Grant with Dušan Andrés aboard beat Desterro and Veramente. The finely prepared track seduced a number of jockeys into taking risks, which unfortunately resulted in a number of pointless falls and injuries, including a fatal injury to one horse.

25.6.2007 Kolorado wins in Merano

We again took home two victories from Merano: Kolorado (POL) won the main race of the day, the Premio Steeplechase di Primavera, a Grade 3 steeplechase over 3 900 m; Moon Blade (GER) won the Premio Scena, a hurdle race over 3 300 m. Trainer Olehla’s horses did not fare as well in Prague. Neither of our two horses in the derby field managed to finish in the money. Ignacio (CZE) ran ninth and Savignon (POL) finished in fourteenth place.

4.6.2007 Two victories in Merano

Our stables enjoyed a successful weekend in Italy. At the racetrack in Merano Diktys (CZE) (Magnus (POL)) won the Premio Val Casies, a steeplechase over 3 800 m and Baggio (POL) won the Premio Val d`Ega, another steeplechase over 3 800 m. Theoden (POL) added a second place finish in the Premio Brunico, a hurdle race over 3 300 m. Both of our horses finished in the money in Bratislava: Ignacio (CZE) (Magnus (POL)) finished fifth in the Staroháj Criterion, a Listed flat race over 2 000 m and Tantor (POL) ran third in his debut in the KOFT Trophy, a flat race over 1 000 m. Shaman (CZE), another offspring of Magnus (POL), won the Grand June Trophy in Prague.

29.5.2007 Kolorado pulled up

On Sunday Kolorado (POL) started the biggest French steeplechase, the Gras Savoye Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris, (Gr. 1, 5+, 5 800 m). However, in the rain and muddy track he was unable to repeat the performance of stable mate Masini (POL), who finished seventh two years ago. In the first half of the race Kolorado (POL) held his own in the middle of the pack. He then fell to the rear and was pulled up. Race conditions were difficult and only five horses finished the race. Video on YouTube In Pardubice Babie Lato (POL) won his first start in a steeplechase. Offspring of our studhorse Magnus (POL) also performed well: both Čajkin (CZE) and Mondeo (CZE) won their races.
