A story of this bay horse from a Polish breed sounds like a fairy-tale about an ugly duckling. When he was auctioned in Warsaw as a two-year-old, he could claim seven starts to his name, out of which he placed third and fourth once and came fifth three times. He didn't seem any gorgeus and the only thing in him that is reminiscent of his amazing half-brother Manuskrypt (POL) is that naive stare. As if he was saying: "Buy me". Not always logical arguments decide a purchase of a horse and Masini was bought for Wrbna stable for 4.000 zloty.

As a three-year-old, he showed us in flat races that he'll be good enough as the year's average - he placed three times out of three starts and has almost paid for himself. He had troubles with broken spike bones just like his brother Manuskrypt (POL) and couldn't train for a month. After that he started with hurdle racing and his star began to shine. He won three times including Zlatá spona tříletých in Pardubice and became the Best three-year-old hurdlerr. In this year he also tried siepi in Merano, Italy, for the first time.

During the winter he became a beautiful and self-confident stallion. He started the 2003 season with a debut in steeplechase in Merano, Italy, in Premio Staffe D´Oro (Gr.3). For many horses an unearthly task but Masini fought for victory and in the end he came second (the winner was in a ? lengths advance). Italy became a second home to Masini, he started here five times, won once and three times placed second. The most valuable of these was the second place in Premio Piero e Franco Richard (Gr.2). He turned his only start in his home land to victory as well. English jockey Jim Crowley, who rode Masini several times, said: "One day, this horse will be better than Registana (GER)".

The following season confirmed his statement, Masini joined the European elite. After a victorious limbering-up in Bratislava, he truly shocked with a victory in Gran Steeplechase di Milano (Gr.1) in mid-May where he defeated German and Italian horses. Zlatý pohár Paramo (L) didn't go that well though - he disappointed the spectators with a "mere" second place. He came second after Almanzor in another Italian start that served as a preparative for the climax of the season at the same time. At the end of the season he shocked for the second time when, with Jim Crowley in saddle, he won the 65. vol. richly endowed Gran Premio di Merano Forst (Gr.1). He defeated rivals of a European level and re-wrote history at the age of five. Moreover, he beat his stable colleague Registana (GER) with acquired money and became the richest horse in the Czech turf's history.

In 2005 he won a "limbering-up" in Bratislava and then started - as the first horse in Czech training - in Gras Savoye Grand Steeple-chase de Paris (Gr.1), the biggest French hurdle race in Auteuil, Paris. Rounded by the French elite, he ended seventh, which was an endowed placement, and was labeled the surprise of the race. Because of his high standards, he had to wait 2 months for a race that he could start at. Unfortunately he seemed to dislike the rough surface of the track of Velká mostecká and came third. In addition to this he sustained an injury which discarded him from training for two months. He returned in October in Cena Vltavy, which was his first cross-country start, and came sixth. Two weeks later he finally won the Závěrečná steeplechase in Pardubice.

At least at the year 2006 he relieved of his health problems and he started in Italy five times. The season initiated 3rd place in Milano and after that he won twice in Merano (Premio Val d´Isarco a Premio Rotary Club). At Gran Premio Merano (Gr. 1) he dictated high rate at the race for his stable colleague Kolorado (POL) and in the end he finished 5th. The season he finished with 2nd place at Premio Lainate (L) in Milano.

Masini began the 2007 season with a second place finish behind stable mate Kolorado (POL) in Bratislava and in May repeated as the 2004 champion in the Gran Steeplechase di Milano (Gr. 1). His did not run well in his next start in the Paramo Golden Cup (L) and was pulled up. Afterwards he came down with colic and his season ended after undergoing an operation.
