Three horses in blue and yellow colors appeared at the start of Velká pardubická vol. 115. Unfortunately, Registana's hope for the third victory in a row dissipated. She jumped the fence very high, didn't land well and lost the jockey. Our next representative Red Dancer (FR) set the pace fast and was the first one to clear the Taxis ditch and Hastaven (FR) was right behind him. They both coped with the ditch well just like the other horses but unfortunately, Hastaven (FR) lost his rider as well in front of the Irish bench. Thereby only Dušan Andrés with Red Dancer (FR) remained on the racing-course in advance of all the others and continued with fast pace, but that turned up fatal for the most of the horses (the race was finished by only 7 horses) and at the same time it contributed to the record-breaking time of this year's Velká pardubická. Unfortunately, Red Dancer (FR) was then at the end of his rope and placed sixth. The winner was Maskul, leaving behind Decent Fellow and Laneret, who came third.
Darsalam, a winner of the Czech and Austrian derby, and the Czech and German Saint Leger, was declared the best horse of 2004. Neither our horses got lost in a poll, announced on the Czech turf's gala evening. Registana (GER) placed second and Masini (POL) placed third. In addition to this, Registana (GER) was declared the best steepler of the season.
Another awards went to our horses:
Závodisko Bratislava officially published the results of a traditional balance poll at a press conference on Thursday. For the first time in Slovak history, both gallop awards went to horses of one stable and wards of one trainer according to the votes of 93 owners, trainers, officers and journalists. Award Flat horse of the Year went to Arganta (GER) who won four times out of five starts, among others Cena Trojročných kobýľ, Oaks, Saint Leger, and once she came second. Thereby she defended last year's Tankred's victory, who came second this year. He hasn't lost once on a racing-course but hasn't finished the season due to an injury. Award Fence horse of the Year went to Big Six (IRE) who wasn't defeated once within his five starts in Bratislava. The prestigeous award The Trainer of the Year therefore went to the trainer of both of the champions Čestmír Olehla. Jaroslav Línek became the Rider of the Year. The poll results are available on Bratislava's racing-course website Horse of year 2004. We were doing quite well even in the 12 other subcategories. Tankred (POL) won the Best Endurance Runner category, Arganta (GER) placed second and Zagon placed third; Arganta (GER) was declared the Best Three-Year-Old Mare and Tankred (POL) was declared the Best Four-Year-Old and Older Stallion (Gelding). In this category, Scyris, Zagon and Tribal Instinct placed as well. Sara (POL) placed second in the Best Four-Year-Old and Older Mare category and King Marc placed fourth among the three-year-old stallions. You can find the detailed results on Bratislava's racing-course website Best horses 2004.
Tankred (POL) scored the biggest success for the Czech colors in a flat race in Italy on Sunday. He sustained this year's invincibility and won with a 2.5 lengths advance in Premio Bolzano, where he placed fourth last year. Arganta (GER) confirmed the role of a champion in the fourth classic race of the season, Oaks Mostecké uhelné společnosti, and won with Gary Hind in saddle. Mainly Monroe placed second and Trusty placed third. Alando (GER) also confirmed our stable's successful performance in Most, where he placed third in Severočeská cena Rückl Crystal and Appian Leasinga; Big Six (IRE) placed fourth in Velká mostecká – Cena Appian Group.
A promisingly progressing racing afternoon ended badly this weekend in Bratislava. King Marc (GER), second from the Czech derby, couldn't finish the XII. Slovak derby due to an injury and was stopped by jockey Paul Eddery during the race. Today's veterinary examination should reveal the relevance of the injury. Victory of a Bratislava's racing-course sovereign Tankred (POL) was just a small plaster for our colors. He won a 2600m Zlatý pohár ahead of Nolan. Arganta (GER) won a 2000m Cena klisen Pat´s Music ahead of Aparta. Alando (GER) placed fourth in a sprinter's 1000m race Cena Mysa.
